ROSEVILLE, Calif. (BRAIN) — Retail chain Mike's Bikes has made its first retailer acquisition since it was bought by Pon Holdings last year. The chain has acquired Roseville Cyclery, which has been renamed Mike's Bikes of Roseville, the 14th Mike's Bikes location.

IDYLLWILD, Calif. (BRAIN) — David "Bud" Hunt Jr., the owner of The Bike Route here, died on Feb. 23 at 93.

Hunt had run the store in this small mountain town above Palm Springs since 1973.

NEW YORK (BRAIN) — REI Co-op in Manhattan became the first store in the company's chain to unionize, with the announcement coming Wednesday night. By a vote of 88-14, the SoHo location will join the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union.

Bike service discount is increased for members.

SEATTLE (BRAIN) — REI Co-op announced changes to and raised the price of its membership program Wednesday, including doubling the shop service discount.

BOSTON (BRAIN) — Landry's Bicycles enters year 100 with the announcement Wednesday that it is now completely employee-owned.

SIGNA Sports United is the owner of Wiggle CRC.

PARK CITY, Utah (BRAIN) — Hap Seliga, a co-founder of Competitive Cyclist and former executive at Backcountry and Specialized, has joined SIGNA Sports United as head of its North American bike operations.

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (BRAIN) — The Sonoma County District Attorney's Office issued a felony arrest warrant for a man stealing bikes from retailers using fraudulent identification and credit cards.

INDIANAPOLIS (BRAIN) — Specialized Bicycle Components added to its growing list of company-owned retail stores by acquiring the four-store Gray Goat Bicycle Co. chain, two sources have told BRAIN.

DENVER (BRAIN) — Bikes — even, or especially, the cheapest ones — should be repairable, according to a petition to the industry being led by a group of nonprofit bike shop mechanics.

LOWER ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (BRAIN) — Police served an arrest warrant on a 34-year-old Florida man wanted in connection to credit card fraud at several Pennsylvania bike shops last year.

IRVINE, Calif. (BRAIN) — The National Bicycle Dealers Association is offering dealers an opportunity to buy a report from its recent consumer buying study. A report tailored for the group's retailer members will sell for $399, far less than the $5,000 report being offered to suppliers.

BOSTON (BRAIN) — The trustee for bankrupt Massachusetts retailer CrimsonBikes has asked the court to convert the bankruptcy case from Chapter 11 back to Chapter 7, which would lead more quickly to liquidating assets and preclude any chance of the business reorganizing and continuing.
